There were times my family went semi-nomadic while Dad followed work. I'm acquainted with this way of living as second nature - but! I have not practiced it much in the past 32 years. And, age and health for sure are big factors. I frankly don't know how my parents managed sometimes, with four kids. I do remember staying with cousins a couple of times, for weeks.
I know what I need, and I know what I want. Those two categories have shifted over the years. We have to think about evacuation almost every year during hurricane season, so as to get out in a hurry if needed. It keeps me aware of just how much of my stuff I can do without, or replace easily. It's a lot.
What I like about not moving a lot anymore is that I have things to hand that I (not being able to drive) don't have to arrange to go get. It also makes online shopping easy, this permanent address stuff. :) For non-drivers, online shopping is wonderful.
