Not sure the ugly sisters were much better - all just out to marry a man with money and leech for the rest of their lives. Cinderella is held up in the tale as better than them for being passive about it, but is still after the same thing ultimately. It's not a positive moral for how things work today.
I like the Roald Dahl version a little better, but I think someday I may have to write my own take on it.
