I really have no idea where to start with commenting on this article on triad relationships versus sensible poly- anyone care to start?

And here I was thinking you were having a last minute wobble about the three of us living together... :) Nice to see you're just annoyed at stupid people.

Are we a triad? I guess we are... hadn't really thought about it since it's going to be a five person house and I have a Lex, and so on.

Yay for house of joy!

Not so much that. Ménage means household. I don't see us as a triad...

And it made sense before you renamed the entry.

Does that mean it doesn't make sense now?

I just find it ridiculous that the authors comments can be read as saying 'cheating and deception are okay, if you can pretend the other person really knows about it' and/or non-monogamy is okay, but you have to pretend it isn't really happening.

Grr.

Well, no less sense than I normally make. :)

I get the impression he's only got comparitive experience of monogamy. His idea that you shouldn't talk about it probably comes from not expecting it to be possible.

methinks you're too nice ;)

I think a vast number of people would disagree with you on that one...

Hmmm...just finished reading the article now. Looks like the guy is glamorizing things more than a little. 'oh look, all these famous people have experimented with troilism. Surely it is good, and surely engaging in it will make me great and famous too!'

Is it just me, or is it rather amusing that there are four of them asking us to join in their ménage a trois?

LOL

Coincidentally I saw and read that article earlier today, and the plan was to show it to you and ask for your opinion, but I guess there's no need for that anymore...

Maybe I've just been in too many 'hot topic' communities all through my life, but this is about what I'd expect from any mainstream media on any topic - namely deliberately aiming an impression at the uninformed reader that everything to do with the subject is just as they describe ...

Hello Holly! :)

I'm not sure what you mean by that... I guess every person will present things from inside their own world view, but the complete failure to see that there is any other possible way forward, that bugs me. Not to mention the twin suggestions that 'conflict is good' and 'equality is bad'. Ugh.

Actually, I've just noticed something. This was in the "Women" section, but was written by a man. I guess the piece was written with a view to getting a few married women to decide that the answer to their marital stagnation is to take on a younger lover.

Personally, I think you should write a long and well-informed letter, citing more than a single anecdote and a few famous names as backup, explaining why poly is better. Oh, and name-checking Tilda Swinton, since the lovely author failed to mention her happily open method of troilism. Prefereably using the phrase "pretentious, self-adoring, media-grad arse" at some point. :)

Ha! Yes. I wish my memory was better for lists of famous poly people.

Have I mentioned that I think you rock? :)

Erm...Alexander the Great. He was also left-handed and bisexual. And dyed his hair.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett apparently have a fairly open relationship.

Can't think of any others right now. Give me a little while though. :)

And I think you may have mentioned it once or twice. Although not nearly enough whilst hugging me. :) *cuddles back*

Is your comic server still on GMT by the way?

Yup, not sure why, but it doesn't seem worth pestering the bob to change it.

I just slapped my forehead and realised I sent email to your work address btw.
Fancy doing something for a couple of hours after work and then heading back to our boxes? I'm short on ideas though...

Damn, decisions decisions. I'm just thinking finding something quiet and relaxing to do on a Friday, during rush hour, in or near the City, might be tricky. :-/

Discuss further in the morning?

Going beds now, methinks. Will be up early-ish though.
